Schaumburg Illinois
Schaumburg is a northwest suburb of Chicago located in Cook County and DuPage County, Illinois. It was officially recognized in the 1800s. Farmers comprised most of Schaumburg's population in the mid-1800s; today the population has developed into professional residents, consisting of lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc.
Today the village has over 75,000 residents that live in Schaumburg homes. Residents and visitors alike enjoy the many opportunities the Village of Schaumburg has to offer. Schaumburg is the headquarters of Motorola, which is a major employer in the Chicagoland area. Schaumburg is also a shopping destination featuring the only IKEA in Illinois and the gigantic Woodfield Mall; the third largest mall in America in terms of shopping area.
Demographics
According to the Census 2000, there are 75,386 people and 31,800 households. The racial makeup of the Village is 78.78% White, 3.35% African American, 0.10% Native American, 14.19% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 1.73% from other races, and 1.78% from two or more races. 5.29% of the population is Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The median income for a household in the Village is $60,941, and the median income for a family is $72,631.
