Schaumburg Township District Library is the second largest public library in the state of Illinois. It was first built in the early 1960's. The central branch is located in Schaumburg on South Roselle Road. The Hanover Park branch is located on Irving Park Road and the Hoffman Estates branch is located on Hassell Road. Nearly one million people visit the library and its branches, each year.
Schaumburg Library's central branch features over half a million items including books, CDs, DVDs and more. Almost 200 computers are also available for patrons. Artwork is also on display at the library including works from local artisans and renowned sculptures including the work of Dale Chihuly. A cafe, fireplace and a gallery containing original works are some of the other amenities the library offers.
Its children's section is particularly impressive containing an Enchanted Forest area displaying a number of beloved fairytale characters. Adding to the beautiful reading atmosphere is a lovely aquarium, which is quite popular among the children.
Facilities for the visually impaired, hearing impaired and those with physical disabilities are also available at Schaumburg Library.
If you're only passing through town, you can still take advantage of the library's excellent services because it honors all valid library cards issued by any public library in the United States or Canada.
